Building monsters

Postby Solaris » Tue Aug 16, 2011 8:01 am

Hi,

I have a question about building monsters. When building something like a wolf or a lion that uses natural weapons to attack, what power set or template would they use? Would they still need the talent prerequisites for their powers?

Thanks,

A wolf or lion would have a racial talent for natural weapon, and likely 1 or 2 racial attack powers. The matching Fae touched racial talents and powers could be used pending the animal itself being defined. They may use the universal melee attack. You might also adapt material from the Divine Transformation domain as animal racial talents and powers. For example, a lion might have the attack power that comes with Form of the Great Cat.

For higher grade animals some martial attacks may fit, something using light melee weapons. The talent prerequisite applies for any power set powers.

I recommend looking at the Beetle Swarm, Mwunga, Spiders, and Wolves as examples. They all take slightly different tactics for building monsters that carry no weapons.
